In 1991 I co-founded the Cascade Policy Institute, a think tank in Portland, and I consider it one of the best investments I ever made. Cascade works to reduce governmental (especially state level) coercion by increasing the scope of voluntary interactions among people. It endeavors to change the way people think about government. My involvement with Cascade continues as one of five directors on its board. They are one of the better known state-based think tanks, and have a terrific web site.
